Answer: c

Option (c) is correct:

Ishwar Chandra Vidyasagar (1820-1891) was one of the pillars of the Bengal renaissance who managed to continue the social reforms movement that was started by Raja Rammohan Roy in the early 1800s. Vidyasagar was a well-known writer, intellectual and above all, a staunch supporter of humanity. He supported John Elliot Drinkwater Bethune to establish the first permanent girls’ school in India, the Bethune School, in 1849.

In December 1850, Bethune appointed Ishwar Chandra Vidyasagar as secretary to the school. The Hindu Female School’s charge was taken up by the Government in 1856, and then later, it was renamed Bethune School.
