News Context
- As part of India’s BRICS Chairship 2026, the Department of Telecommunications (DoT) will host the BRICS ICT (Information and Communication Technologies) Track in Pune from 17–21 August 2026.
- Theme: “Innovate, Cooperate and Transform (ICT) for a Resilient Future.”
About BRICS — Key Facts
- BRICS now brings together eleven major emerging and developing economies: Brazil, China, Egypt, Ethiopia, India, Indonesia, Iran, Russia, Saudi Arabia, South Africa, and the UAE.
- India holds the BRICS Chairship for 2026, hosting a series of meetings across the country.
The Three Key Events
BRICS ICT Working Group
17–19 August. Focus: digital connectivity, AI, DPI, cybersecurity, digital skills, startups and child online safety.
Digital BRICS Forum & Expo
20 August. Focus: cybersecurity, trustworthy ICTs and sustainable digital ecosystems.
BRICS Communications Ministers Meeting
21 August. India represented by Jyotiraditya M. Scindia. Focus: ICT resilience, cybersecurity, digital skills and innovation.
