PM Surya Sarovar Yojana (PM-SSY)

The Union Cabinet approved the Pradhan Mantri Surya Sarovar Yojana (PM-SSY) on 31 July 2026 with a total outlay of ₹5,070 crore; NISE estimated India’s floating solar potential at approximately 102.18 GWp across reservoirs and inland water bodies.
PM-SSY: Key Facts
- A scheme for developing Floating Solar Photovoltaic (FSPV) projects with co-located Energy Storage Systems (ESS).
- Target: 5,000 MW of floating solar with a minimum storage capacity of two hours (10,000 MWh); projects will be sanctioned FY 2026-27 to FY 2030-31, with disbursements until FY 2032-33.
- Will enhance India’s floating solar capacity from the current ~700 MW to 5,700 MW, expected to cut ~10 million tonnes of CO₂ emissions annually and generate 16,000–17,000 full-time equivalent jobs.

PM-KISAN Scheme
Agriculture / Welfare
The Union Cabinet approved the continuation of PM-KISAN beyond FY 2025-26 with an enhanced annual outlay; the 20th instalment was released by PM Modi, benefiting over 9.5 crore farmers directly.
PM-KISAN: Key Facts
- PM-KISAN (Pradhan Mantri Kisan Samman Nidhi) was launched on 24 February 2019 at Gorakhpur, Uttar Pradesh — a 100% Centrally Funded scheme under the Ministry of Agriculture and Farmers’ Welfare.
- Provides ₹6,000 per year in three equal instalments of ₹2,000 each, released every four months (April–July, August–November, December–March) via DBT.
Achievements
- Over ₹3.45 lakh crore transferred to more than 11 crore farmers since launch, with 19 instalments released as of June 2026 via 100% DBT and mandatory e-KYC.

Pradhan Mantri Surakshit Matritva Abhiyaan (PMSMA)
Health
PMSMA completed 10 years since its launch, with over 7.5 crore antenatal check-ups conducted and nearly 1.2 crore high-risk pregnancies identified under the scheme.
PMSMA: Key Facts
- Launched on 9 June 2016 as a flagship initiative of the Ministry of Health and Family Welfare, providing free, comprehensive, specialist-led antenatal care at designated government facilities.
- Check-ups are conducted on the 9th of every month, focusing on the second and third trimesters, for early risk detection and safer pregnancies.
- Extended PMSMA (introduced January 2022) individually tracks High-Risk Pregnancies up to 45 days post-delivery, with SMS alerts and ASHA worker support.
