Miyawaki Forest & Raichur Dumpsite Transformation
News Context
- Raichur (Karnataka) transformed the 35-acre Yakalaspura dumpsite into a green asset under Swachh Bharat MissionβUrban 2.0. About 62,252 MT of legacy waste was scientifically processed, ~22 acres reclaimed, and a Miyawaki forest (~60,000 saplings) developed. Inaugurated on World Environment Day (5 June 2026) by Union Finance Minister Nirmala Sitharaman.

Benefits

Limitations
